Some means several/certain amount

  • Used in affirmative sentences (+)

Example:

  • There is some flour on the table
  • There are some peppers on the table

Any means anything or none/neither

  • Used in interrogative (?) or negative sentences ()

Example:

  • Is there any sugar in the cupboard?
  • Are there any carrots in the fridge?
  • There aren’t any tomatoes in the fridge
  • There isn’t any chocolate in the cupboard
